Hi I'm DJ, an 11 to 12 year old pug, who lost his home as
my owner died. I'm a little shy around men and sometimes around people
in general. I love to have a tummy rub. I am housetrained and love
to go for car rides or long walks. I get along with the other pug
in my foster home. I'm looking for my new forever home. |

Achilles is a 4 yr old neutered male pug who came into Rescue
with Apollo. I’m up to date on my shots and will be going to the vet
soon for a checkup and I’ll be ready for adoption. I have had some
obedience training and I love to cuddle with my human. I’m told that
I’m a quick learner and I’m housetrained. I’m afraid of cats. |

Mister is a 7-8 year old neutered Pug Corgi mix found as
a stray. He was so scared in the shelter that he could not be examined
so he had to go to rescue or be euthanized. We found a foster home
for him at the last minute and he’s now learning to relax in his foster
home where his true personality is now shining through. It is very
likely that Mister experienced some abuse and neglect in his home
– he is afraid of any hands near his face and needs a home who will
be patient while he settles in. Mister’s foster mom adores him and
says he is smart and learned his name in one day and now is very happy
and loving. Mister does have a bit of arthritis and will need to be
on Glucosamine but he has no trouble with stairs. |

Sofie is 7 yrs old. Her owner gave her up simply because
they didn't want her any more. Sofie is timid when you bend to put
a leash on her or go to pet her. She gets a bit anxious when she rides
in a vehicle but her foster home is working on this. Sofie gets along
good with other dogs. She likes people. She walks well on a leash
and goes to the dog park everyday. She should not go to a home with
a child under 10 yrs of age. She wants to chase cats something she
picked up from her foster brother. If you tell her leave it, she will
stop. Sofie is just a few pounds over weight and is on a pug diet.
She's a very well behaved lady with a sweet demeanor. She will receive
a dental cleaning and a general health check before she is available
for adoption. |

Apollo is an approximately 4 yr old neutered male pug who
came into Rescue with Achilles. I like children, people, cats and
other dogs. He is delightful!. He's so good, a total love and well
behaved. He is relaxed and plays with other dogs, he has become one
of the "pack" in his foster home. He is a true people-dog, following
his foster mom around. He love to touch and kiss you--sits on your
lap (although he barely fits), sleeps on you etc. |

Spike is a very sick fawn male who is a little over 1 year
old. Spike has a single extrahepatic liver shunt. Portosystemic
shunts are abnormal vascular connections between the hepatic portal
vein (the blood vessel that connects the gastrointestinal tract
with the liver) and the systemic circulation. Such anomalies cause
blood in the gastrointestinal track to be diverted past the liver,
there by limiting the liver's vital functions in metabolism and
detoxification of compounds and the body's defenses against intestinally
derived pathogens. This effectively exposes the body to toxic by-products
of digestion (toxins and bacteria) and mimics the effects of liver
failure. Extrahepatic shunts are most common, accounting for 61%
to 94% of congenital shunts, and are typically seen in small breeds
of dogs. Spike is having surgery to hopefully correct this condition
with an ameroid contrictor band. This is very expensive surgery
and will cost $3,400 to over $4,000.00. Please help us by donating
for this very deserving little pug and help us save his life.
Spike and PROS send pug hugs and kisses to Linda Parena.
Thank you Linda for your Donation to help pay Spike's medical
bills.
Spike and PROS send pug hugs and kisses to Linda Goldman
and Lynn Maritch. Thank you Linda and Lynn for your Donation to
help pay Spike's medical bills.

Hello my name is Carson and I'm 4 yr old black male pug.
I'm a pretty mellow guy, I love other dogs, cats and I even like
children very much! I like to go on walks and I'm real easy to get
along with. I currently have some skin issues that are being treated.
My former owner could not longer take care of me and gave me to
PROS so I can find a new forever home. Once I get over my skin issues
I will be neutered. I'm currently on Medical Hold.
Update 8/4/08: Carson has recovered from his skin issues. He
is no longer Medical Hold and is available for adoption.

Hi I'm Missy and I'm an 8 yr old spayed Chug (pug/chichuaua
mix) I got out and got hit by a car and I have had some surgeries
but my leg is not healing correctly. I may have to have my leg amputated
but once it is healed I should do great without it. |

Hi I'm Pete and I'm a fawn 1 and½ yr old male pug. Everyone
says what a good looking boy I am. I love other dogs so I would like
to be in a home where I could play. I just had surgery to fix a luxating
patella whatever that is. I am on MEDICAL HOLD until I have recovered
and then I may have to have the other leg done. |

Hi I'm Marcie and older black female pug from a shelter.
I came into Rescue with flea dermatitis, mammary tumors and still
need to be spayed. I will be going to the vet soon. I'm active and
can be an escape artist. I also get along with the other pugs in my
foster home. |

Hi I’m Parker, I’m a former PROS pug who got lost and ended
up in a shelter and no one ever came back for me but PROS did. I’m
about 8 years old and a handsome fawn color. I was not well taken
care of as my teeth are very bad so I'm getting a dental and then
I'm ready for a new and forever home.

Hi I’m Wesley and I’m an 8 yrs old active fawn pug. I got
lost and ended up in a shelter and no one came to get me back. I’m
on the smaller side for most male pugs that come into Rescue. My shots
have been updated and I have dry eye for which I get ointment. I also
have ear infections which are being treated. I will be going to one
of PROS vets soon to get neutered. I get along with the other pugs
in my foster home and I'll be ready for a new home soon. |

Hi, I'm Maisy a 3 yr old black female pug. I have been to
the vet and had the "works including getting my shots updated, spayed,
micro chipped and a heartworm test (which was negative). I am being
treated for a bladder infection. I like to follow my foster mom around
and I am learning to use the doggie door. I can get in the using the
doggie door but haven't quite figured out how to get out using the
doggie door. My foster mom says I'm a larger size female but only
need to lose 1-2 lbs. I'm just a big girl, very sweet and loving.
I get along with the other pugs in my foster home. I need to have
my housetraining re-enforced. |

Hi I’m Carrie and I am a fawn 7 mo old female that came
into Rescue with demodectic mange. As you can see how cute I am
and I’ll be going to the vet soon for a checkup and when the vet’s
says it’s OK I’ll get what they call spayed so I won’t have puppies.
As you can see from the Rescue website there are just too many people
turning in their pugs for various reasons.
Carrie is on MEDICAL HOLD.
Update 5/2/08: Carrie still has Demodectic Mange and is still
under going treatment. She will be re-examined in 3 months.
Update 8/4/08: Carrie was re-examined on July 3, 2008 and she
still has Demodectic Mange. She will continue to under go treatment.

Beautiful Becky was turned in to PROS by a military family
who was moving and couldn't keep her. She is a 9 or 10 year old
sweetheart who loves to sit by your side and chew on nylabones.
She is a bit heavy right now so she is on a diet. She has a collapsing
trachea (which will benefit from weight loss) which seems better
already and she also has chronic ear infections and can't hear very
well. Becky is so soft and fluffy and is a beautiful apricot color.
She is sweet with children and gets along great with other dogs.
June 2008 Update: Becky has slimmed down quite a bit! Now
5 pounds lighter, her trachea problem is hardly noticeable and she
only coughs maybe once a week. She can run and romp and breathe
much easier! Its amazing what a difference a few pounds can make
to a little pug. Her ear infections have also cleared up, but due
to her past chronic infections, her ear canals will always be needing
3-4x per week cleaning to make sure they dont come back. She's ready
to be YOUR pal and perform her ridiculous post-bath doggie bed freakout
for you -its hilarious!

Morrie's age has been estimated to be between 4 to 6 year
old. He is a neutered male pug who is very active and just loves to
give kisses. He's affectionate and a very happy Pug. Morrie is a bit
food and toy possessive with other dogs so he'd love being the only
love in your life. |
|
|
Pansy is an older fawn female pug who was neglected. She
will need to be spayed, have palate surgery and have either a hernia
repaired or tumor removed. She is on the thin side but is still a
happy girl. She does know how to sit on command. PROS is seeing more
and more older neglected pugs coming into Rescue. Please consider
adopting an older pug. |

Auntie Mae is and older female pug, maybe 10-12 yr old who
was not well taken care of. She is housetrained and is delightful
to be around. She gets along with other pugs. She barks only when
it’s feeding time. If you are looking for an older four legged friend
Auntie Mae is for you.

Buster is approximately 10 years old but try telling him
that. He's a black male neutered pug who is very obese and on a
very strict diet. He's healthy, loves to play with stuffed toys
and drop them in his water bowl. He is very much a snuggle Pug but
is active, loves walks, other dogs, negotiates stairs with no problems
and he's looking for a new home.

Special Needs:
Mollie is an 8 to 9 yr old fawn spayed female who has been
diagnosed with Diabetes and she needs insulin twice a day. Her eyesight
isn't really great but she can still see her way around and her
eye medications really help. Mollie would love a new home and PROS
is willing to pay for her medications if someone would like to provide
her with a home and love.
Pug Hugs and Kisses to Mollie's Sponsors:
Doranna and Steve Grech are sponsoring Mollie. Thank you Doranna
and Steve.

Diva is an 8 - 10 year old, sweet, fun, lovable little dog
who would work well in a household with no other dogs or with one
other mildly playful dog for companionship. She loves people but
because she is afraid of sudden movements and loud noises she would
do better in a home with no children. She is on a special diet and
needs someone who is conscientious about monitoring for any gastrinomical
upset due to chronic pancreatis. Diva knows basic commands and loves
to please. Diva is possessive of her food and needs to be fed away
from other pets and she can be toy possessive though is improving.
She gets along with and plays with other dogs if allowed to get
to know them under close supervision at first. Due to a broken pelvis
that healed crooked, Diva needs a lot of exercise to keep her limber.
She loves to roll and run in the grass and is quite fast on her
feet. She tends to lose her balance and hold her head to the side
at times due to a possible neurological problem but this condition
has not been problematic. Diva is partially housebroken and will
use a doggy door most of the time. Confining her to a room or two
in the beginning and working with her under close scrutiny may be
all she needs to correct this. Diva would thrive better with a home
that has someone there most of the time as she "wails" when she's
alone. She's a great little dog that makes you laugh and is very
entertaining.
John and Laura Kilcorse are sponsoring Diva. Thank you John
and Laura.

If you have a squeaky plush toy problem, Duke's your man.
He is a sweet 9 year old male who was surrendered to PROS because
the family's toddler was too rough with him. He is a little timid
at first but warms up after a few days. He loves other pugs and
sitting on your lap to cuddle (and hunting the squeaky plush toys,
of course). He would do best in a home with no children and is on
special diet for urinary crystals.
Update: 10/27/07:
Duke is very timid and does not like being carried. He will come
to you, but does not like being approached. Duke is deaf; however,
he has adjusted well to his surround and appears to have no problem
with other pug in the house. He has an upcoming birthday on Nov.
1, 2007 and will be 10 years old.
