Pugs Available for Adoption

We are pugs needing to be rescued because we have lost our homes! If you have love to give to any of us, please contact PROS. Thank you for looking at us and trying to help us find a home to call our own!

PROS especially needs to find homes for our older pugs. If you are looking for a mellow pal who wants to cuddle on the sofa rather than run laps around it, check them out!

Hello I’m Marley, nice to meet you. I’m a 5-7 yr old fawn fun loving boy. I was a stray and ended up in a shelter where PROS came to get me. I like other dogs and best of all I love to give my humans kisses. I have been to the vet and have had my medical checkup and had my shots updated, neutered and microchipped. I’m told I have pretty good manners. I love to ride in the car. I get really excited when I go for walks. I’m ready to come and be your best friend.

Senior/Special Needs

Hi, I'm Hennessey! I am a 9 yr. old neutered male fawn pug. I was surrendered because my owners could no longer care for me. I had been living outside for quite some time, and I was in very bad shape. I have been neglected emotionally and medically. Pros graciously took me in, and has given me the love and medical attention that I so desperately needed. I am recovering nicely from knee surgery and I will be having nare surgery and a dental within the week. I am deaf and I have very limited eyesight, but even with these little short comings my foster parents say I get along excellent in the yard and around the house. I love attention as you can imagine. I love sleeping in bed with you and snuggling up against your back. I just love it when you play with me, and I am so grateful that I will climb up and nuzzle your face and plant sweet kisses on you. I am current on my shots and I am micro-chipped. I would do best in a home where there are no stairs, due to my knees and limited eyesight. Would you consider giving an older gentleman a loving home for the remainder of my time here? If you do I will reward you with the best companion you have ever had. Hennessey will be available for adoption once his medical clears.

Pros could use your help with any donation or contribution to help this little man get back on his feet.

Hi, My name is Dusty. I am a neutered male fawn pug, age anywhere from 5 to 7 yrs. old. Dusty was found as a stray and by his condition when found, he was not taken care of. I like to go on long walks and I tend to pout a bit when the walk is over. I ride good in the car, and I am good with other animals and children. I am house trained, and I know the command to "sit". My foster parents say that I am very intelligent. I am not bothered by loud noises. I am micro-chipped and updated on my shots. Dusty recently had to have a dental surgery because his teeth were so bad. As a result of the neglect, he lost 12 teeth and a major infection had settled into his jaw, leaving him with a permanent fracture in the jaw bone. Dusty will have to be on soft food the rest of his life, with no hard toys or hard chews. Dusty has had some severe complications since his surgery.

Pros is asking for any donations and or contributions to help with the costs of his surgery. We will continue to update you as to his condition and notify you when he becomes available for adoption.

Hi, my name is Sunny. I am a 6 yr. old spayed fawn female pug, I was born 4-11-2003. I was sadly surrendered because my beloved owner passed away. I am a real joy to be around, and quite a cutie pie. I love to have fun and I like playing. I like toys, animals, people, and children. I like to go on walks, and rides in the car. I am especially fond of water, and like playing in it. I have a very special toy cake that I love. It acts like a pacifier and helps me to sleep, it is my baby. So if you tell me to go get my baby, I will go get my toy cake and bring it to you. I like treat time, and I especially love to cuddle with you whether it be on the couch or on the bed. I am potty trained, micro-chipped and updated on my shots. Sunny would be a fabulous dog for an active family, who will give her lots of attention and take her with them on outings. Sunny would do best in a home where someone is home a large part of the day. Sunny will be available for adoption once her medical clears.

Hi, my name is Patsy! I am almost 5 months old, I am still a puppy. I am a fawn female pug, that was surrendered because my family could not medically afford to take care of my injured right eye. Patsy is all puppy and loves to play and romp, however her eye injury is so severe that she probably will loose her eye. Patsy will have to be kept calm while she rehabs from this major surgery. Patsy will adapt and lead a normal life with the use of one eye, it will not detour her or take away from her beauty in any way. Once she has healed she will be micro-chipped. Patsy has been updated on her shots, and once old enough she will be spayed. With the state of our economy and the rising costs of surgical procedures, PROS is humbly asking for any donation and or contributions to help us take care of this beautiful little girl who has already been through so much in her short little life. PROS is not accepting applications at this time for Patsy. When Patsy is ready for adoption and her medical has cleared PROS will update the information on our web.

Patsy and PROS send pug hugs and kisses to a'Ronda Thompson for her donation to help pay Patsy's medical bills.

Update 06/10/09: Thanks to the expertise of a dedicated vet and the love and efforts of her foster mom we may be able to save Pasty's right eye. The vet's approach is to use medicines and ointment to lubricate the eye and the foster mom is applying the meds and ointment to the eye as specified by the vet. Although the eye may have been saved, at this time it appears that Pasty will have no vision in that eye. Although treatment may require many vet visit, we may be able to save Pasty from the painful experience of surgery.

Hi my name is Grady, I am a 3 yr. old neutered fawn male pug, I was surrendered because my owners could no longer take care of me. I just had emergency surgery for kidney stones, a liver shunt, and a foreign object in my stomach. I have a long road of recovery ahead of me, and I will be in foster care for at least 6 months while I rehab. I am house trained and crate trained, I am good with other animals. I am a real love a bug. I am micro-chipped, and updated on all my shots. Grady will be available for adoption once his medical clears. PROS would greatly appreciate any donations to help pay for Grady’s medical.

Grady and PROS sends pug hug and kisses to Melanie Cary for her donation to help pay Grady's medical bills.

Grady and PROS send pug hug and kisses to Linda Parena and Richard Linton for their donation to help pay Grady's medical bills.

Hi, I'm Chelsie. I am a 3 to 4 yr. old fawn female pug. I was found as a stray and had no I.D. and ended up in a shelter, no one came for me except for Pros. I am very mellow and quiet. My favorite past time is sleeping. I am good with other dogs and cats. I rode well in a crate. I tend to have separation anxiety at first but then I come out of my shell in no time. My foster mom is working on my potty training, and learning the boundaries at the front door. I am scheduled for my medical check up at which time I will updated on my shots, micro-chipped and spayed. Boy they're gonna do alot to me; I can hang with it. Chelsie will be available for adoption once her medical clears.
My name is Emma! I am a 4 yr. old spayed black female pug. I was sadly surrendered after my beloved owner passed away. I am a hugh obese girl, I weigh in at 43 lbs. I ride very well in the car, and I am very sweet and calm. I get along well with other dogs, cats and children. I am house trained and I know how to use a doggy door. I am micro-chipped and updated on all of my shots. Emma will be available for adoption once her medical clears.

My name is Angie, my estimated age is 10 yrs. old. I was surrendered to the Santa Clara SPCA, and was rescued by Pros. I am a spayed fawn female pug. I am micro-chipped and updated on my shots. I just had a dental cleaning and medically came through it just fine. I have lost most of my hearing but in no way does that detour me. I respond to eye contact and hand signals. However if my back is to you, your on your own. I am house trained, and my foster mom says I am very sweet and devoted. I miss her so much when she is at work, that when she comes home I bark and spin in total excitement. I am good with other dogs, cats and children. I really like my small stuffed animals, string beans and jerky treats and I ride exceptionally well in the car.

Angie despite her age is in good health and deserves that loving forever home. Angie will be available for adoption once her medical clears.

Hi, my name is Bentley. I am a 9 1/2 yr. old neutered male fawn pug. I was surrendered because my owner could no longer take care of me and my brother; (Zack). I am micro-chipped, updated on my shots, and in very good health. I might mention that I am house trained, that's a plus. I really like other dogs, cats and children. I am active, and happy all the time, I'm what you would call a party boy. When you talk to me, I get so excited and just wag that curly Q tail of mine, and I have this silly little grin on my face. I do like to play with my stuffed toys they are my buddies. I like treats and meal time those are one of my favorite parts of the day. I ride good in the car, but don't care much for walking. I will walk but I go slow and then it's not long before I'm ready to head back home. I will sit next to you if you want me to, but I really love sleeping in my cuddle bed with my big pillow. I also like to steal all the attention, I want it all for myself but I will share nicely.

Update 5/24/09: Bentley's medical has cleared and he is available for adoption.

Hi, I'm Zack, I am a 9 1/2 yr. old neutered male fawn pug. I was surrendered because my owner could no longer care for me and my brother, (Bentley). I am house broken, well-behaved, mellow, laid back and just a real dignified gentleman. I am a big handsome boy, and I like to be touching you all the time. I love my treats, I am good with other dogs, cats, and children. I really don't care much for toys, I don't mind my bath as long as it is given to me in the shower with warm water. I don't like being wet with the hose, if I see you turn it on, I turn tail and head the other way. I like to ride in the car, and go for walks. I love to eat apples, I'm a bit of a baby when I have to be updated on my shots, but if you distract me I do fine. My health is good, and I am current on my vaccinations. I was raised with my brother, Bentley, but we will do fine being adopted out separately. I am anxious to go to my new forever home. I hope you will consider me, I am a real good boy, and would make a wonderful, loving, and committed companion.

Not too much is known about my history except that I was gotten off of Craig's list and then surrendered, because they could not take care of me. My foster mom says that I am cute as a button, and I draw attention when we go for our walks. I am very sweet, energetic, playful and I like to give lots of kisses. Update 4/26/09: Jeffery's diet is working and he has lost 2 pounds. His goal is to loose 2 more pounds to be at his best weight.

Hello there, I'm Angelo! I sound Italian don't I, but I can assure you I am all pug. I am a 6 month old beautiful fawn apricot male pug. Surrendered with my identical twin sister, Kaylee (bio below). I am a major lover and snuggler, I like to lay on my back in your arms like a little baby. I am extremely playful like all puppies, and yes I like to nibble on fingers and toes. I love to go outside, there is so much to explore and everything is so new and exciting. I follow and take it all in, the bird that flies overhead and the butterfly's that float past me, I am so captivated by it all. I am being updated on all my shots, I am micro-chipped, and once I am old enough I will be neutered. I am being potty trained and I already know how to use a doggy door. Well won't you just look at me, I'm Darby! I am a 9 month old good looking neutered male fawn pug. I was surrendered because I was not socializing with people, prior I had been surrendered due to abuse and neglect. My first year has been a rough one, but thanks to Pros and my wonderful foster parents I am slowly learning to trust people again. I am very social with other animals, I know they won't hurt me. I am house trained, I can use a doggy door, I like to ride in the car, and I love to go on walks. I am very well behaved on a leash, I know basic commands. My foster parents say I am very smart, I love to run fast and play and wrestle around with the other dogs. I do like to steal a shoe from time to time, but just to take it from you I don't chew it up. I am current on all my shots, and I am micro-chipped. I am in very good health. Darby will be available for adoption once his medical is cleared. Darby would do best in an environment where someone is home alot of the time, and Darby would do better with older children. Darby is very well behaved, and with patience and love Darby will make someone a very special companion.

Hi, I'm Ashley, I am a 2 yr. old fawn spayed female pug. I was surrendered to a shelter because my family could not afford to take care of the medical attention I needed. I am very tiny and petite little angel, I am sweet and gentle, I am good with other dogs, cats, and children. I like to ride in the car, and I love to go on walks. I am very good on a leash. I am house trained and I know how to use a doggy door. I am a constant shadow, and want more than anything to be on your lap. I am current on my shots, and I am micro-chipped. Ashley will be available for adoption once her medical is cleared.

Update 4/26/09: Ashley requires surgery for her luxating patellas. She will require at least 6 weeks to recuperate.

I am as sweet as they come, and I will follow you every where. I am a virtual shadow. I want to be on your lap or next to you on the bed. I love to be dressed up and I love it when you talk to me. I believe I understand what you are saying, because I will tilt my head back and forth. I have a very expressive face. I am non-aggressive, I like other dogs, cats and children. I will bark to let you know that I need or want to go outside. I do know how to use a doggy door if you have one. I have no fear of loud noises. I am very easy to take care of; I don't mind my bath, my nails clipped, or my ears cleaned. They say I am the perfect dog that you can take with you any where. I am well mannered and behaved. And I really love to be outside on sunny days. Paula's medical has cleared and she is available for adoption.

Hi, I'm Andre, I am a 6 week old black male pug puppy. I was abandoned by my owners at a vets office, with a severe injury to my right eye. Unfortunately my eye had to be removed.

I am an absolute doll, but that sweet face of mine sometimes turns a little devilish. Cookie's medical has cleared and she is now available for adoption. Hi, I'm Buckshot. I am a 4 yr. old neutered male fawn pug. I was surrendered to Pros after my beloved owner passed away, leaving me and my buddy Brutus alone. We were so very sad, but now we are in a wonderful loving and caring foster home. Just until someone sees my beautiful face and takes me home with them forever. I am current on my shots, I'm micro chipped, and I am house-trained. I weigh in at 33 lbs, and yes I am large. Please do not mistake that for fat, I am a large giant of a pug. But not only do you get a lot of pug to love with me, I am sensitive and so super sweet. I love to ride in the car, and I like to go on walks. I am a little active but not crazy running all over. I get along well with other dogs, I am sometimes sensitive to loud noises but it does not exhibit a problem for me. My foster mom says that I am a real doll, a major love pug, and very very gentle. I am very anxious to meet you, hope to see you soon. Buckshot will be available for adoption once his medical clears.

Update 5/24/09: Buckshot has cleared his medical and is available for adoption.

I'm Pearl-li-mae, nice to meet you. I am an 8 yr. old spayed female fawn pug. I was picked up by a family off of Craig's List and then I guess they just decided they didn't want a pug; or maybe they just didn't want me. I was then surrendered to Pros, I'll just say it once; "Lucky for me." I am current on my shots, I'm micro-chipped, and in good health. I was housetrained but with all the shuffling around, I have been having a small problem at times. My foster mom is working on this and is very serious about getting it corrected. I am a very sweet girl, I ride well in a car, and love to go on walks. I just love sitting on a lap and giving sweet kisses. I get along well with other dogs and cats. However I have been chasing the cat but I just want to play with it I would never ever hurt a cat. Pearl will be available for adoption once her medical clears.

Update 5/24/09: Pear-li-mae has cleared her medical and is available for adoption.

I’m Nora and I came in with Dena we are both 7-8 yr old fawn female and would like to stay together. Please consider adopting us. I have a little head tilt and am overweight but my foster home is working at getting me slim and trim. I have limited eyesight.

Update 2/13/09: Nora and Dena are a bonded pair and need to be adopted together.

How do you do?! I'm Dena. I am an 8 yr. old spayed fawn female pug. I was surrendered with my best friend Nora; (bio above) because our owner moved and was unable to care for us. I am a very tiny petite little girl. I am current on my shots, I am micro-chipped, and in good health. I am house trained, I can be taught to use a doggy door. I am great with other dogs and children. I am very spunky and love to play tug-of-war. I like to play with toys from time to time, but my very favorite past time is to bury my face in something fluffy. A blanket, pillow, stuffed animal, it just has to be fluffy. I am addicted to fluffy. I have some limited sight problems which require an ointment be placed in my eyes daily. However this does not stop me from getting around. My front paws began to turn down quite some time ago, so because of this stairs are difficult for me. One to two steps is fine. I am available for adoption, and if possible, Nora and I would like to be kept together. We will understand if this can't be done, but we're so hoping that special someone will look at us and fall instantly in love and take us both.

Update 2/13/09: Dena and Nora are a bonded pair and need to be adopted together.

My name is Champagne I am a 9 yr old spayed fawn female and my owner could no longer take care of me. I am overweight so I need to lose weight and am being put on a diet whatever that is. I can't do steps so I need a home without steps or an owner willing to carry me up and down the steps as I have a tendency to jump them instead of stepping on them. Steps really scare me. I have been to the vet and have had my shots updated and I am having ear medication put in my ears for ear infections.

Update: 11/16/08: Champange is pending adoption.

Hello Brando is my name I'm an 5 to 6 year old neutered black male pug that ended up in a shelter. I've got some flea dermatitis whatever that is. I have a bit of separation anxiety which is being worked on. I would make a good pug for someone who doesn't work and maybe only one other dog. I had a growth removed from one of my legs which turned out to be a skin tag. Please consider adopting me as I would love to get my forever home.

Update 9/18/08: Brando likes to be held like a baby. He plays with toys and chasing ball all the time.

Mister is a 7-8 year old neutered Pug Corgi mix found as a stray. He was so scared in the shelter that he could not be examined so he had to go to rescue or be euthanized. We found a foster home for him at the last minute and he’s now learning to relax in his foster home where his true personality is now shining through. It is very likely that Mister experienced some abuse and neglect in his home – he is afraid of any hands near his face and needs a home who will be patient while he settles in. Mister’s foster mom adores him and says he is smart and learned his name in one day and now is very happy and loving. Mister does have a bit of arthritis and will need to be on Glucosamine but he has no trouble with stairs.

Update: December 8, 2008: Mister is pending adoptiom.

Spike is a very sick fawn male who is a little over 1 year old. Spike has a single extrahepatic liver shunt. Portosystemic shunts are abnormal vascular connections between the hepatic portal vein (the blood vessel that connects the gastrointestinal tract with the liver) and the systemic circulation. Such anomalies cause blood in the gastrointestinal track to be diverted past the liver, there by limiting the liver's vital functions in metabolism and detoxification of compounds and the body's defenses against intestinally derived pathogens. This effectively exposes the body to toxic by-products of digestion (toxins and bacteria) and mimics the effects of liver failure. Extrahepatic shunts are most common, accounting for 61% to 94% of congenital shunts, and are typically seen in small breeds of dogs. Spike is having surgery to hopefully correct this condition with an ameroid contrictor band. This is very expensive surgery and will cost $3,400 to over $4,000.00. Please help us by donating for this very deserving little pug and help us save his life.

Spike and PROS send pug hugs and kisses to Linda Parena. Thank you Linda for your Donation to help pay Spike's medical bills.

Spike and PROS send pug hugs and kisses to Linda Goldman and Lynn Maritch. Thank you Linda and Lynn for your Donation to help pay Spike's medical bills

Spike and PROS send pug hugs and kisses to Julia Margherita. Thank you Julia for your Donation to help pay Spike's medical bills.

Update: 11/16/08: Spike is pending adoption.
